名前の形式が正しくありません。

外国人である私にとっては、どうも日本のサイトは使いづらい。これは文化にも基づいているのかもしれないけれど、事実上使いづらいというのも残念ながら私の意見です。UX（ユーザー・エクスペリエンス）というのは、言うなればユーザーの立場から考えたデザインというので、電気製品や生活用品などにいたるところに消費者の立場を考える日本なのに、というところが不思議でしょうがない。どこが使いづらいかといえば、サイトのナビゲーションやメッセージの分かりやすさもそうかもしれないけど、そんなことより最もユーザが苛立ちがちのフォーム入力のところでほぼいつもくじける。どこでくじけるかというと、一番最初の「名前」という欄からです。

今までで考えると、私はおそらくウェブで５か６ぐらいの名前で知られている、実に多重人格である存在のはずです。これは別に私が意図的に決めたわけでもなく、サイトの開発者次第のことです。ローマ字入力の制限はいうまでもなく、場合によってかなの制限だとか、文字数が多すぎるとか、どうしても本名を入れさせてもらえない苛立ちのあげく、逆切れで思いっきり仮名で行く私です。だって自分の名前だもの。自分の名前から一文字消せというまでなら全くでたらめにしてやるという人間の気持ちは当たり前じゃないか。

そんなことで嘆いたり、Twitterで同情を引こうとしていれば友達が こんなリンクを送ってきました。いかにもうなずくようなことばっかり書いているのでさっそく日本語にしようと。これで一つでも苛立つフォームがなくなれば、と思っています。かなり意訳でご容赦を・・・

この思い込みは全て間違いです。
プログラマーとして、そしてデザイナーとして人間が最も大事にする「自分の名前」の存在に敬意を払って、ユーザを苛立たせ挫折させるようなサイトにならないように心がけましょう。
